lamb-fish: dark side of the lens

South swell is pumping today in San Diego. Dawn patrol session this morning got me thinking of the hurricane action happening on the other side of the globe and how that must be stirring up some waves in Europe. I’ll be in Ireland in just a few days, a while this is not going to be a ‘surf trip’…

The Billabong Pro Tahiti is firing! If you haven’t seen any of the imagery from yesterdays tow day take a moment to see what these guys are doing! www.billabongpro.com
Everyone is charging but it’s too bad one of the guys who would have been the most entertaining to watch isn’t around to surf it. RIP Andy Irons. Heres a quick shot of one of his old boards from before his championship run. Chances are this 6’6” saw some pretty heavy waves in its day.

Have a quick sneak peak at the beginning of a rather large project… Ive just recently started photographing a collection of over 400 surfboards ranging from modern shred sleds ridden by pros like Kelly Slater and Andy Irons to 40 year old tanks that have somehow survived decades of surf.  The collection of boards is owned by Eric “Bird” Huffman of Bird’s Surf Shed. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for some pretty cool announcements related to the project.  The detail in the full size prints is a whole different experience so make sure you come out to see them when we start showing them off! Designer Brian Lamb will spearheading a website, book, and events for the project. Lots of work to do… Until later here’s the first board

Had the opportunity to shoot some photos of Dirk Nowitzki a few weeks back. Less than 24hrs roundtrip to Dallas and a huge thunderstorm. Congrats to him on the championship and the MVP. He was a great guy to work with and definitely deserves it. Cheers, CP

Summer is just around the corner so starting to play with some new toys. Here are some quick clips experimenting with a GoPro down at Sunset Cliffs, San Diego. CP

With the Madden 12 cover now public I can show what else we were up to in NYC last month!! Here’s a quick timelapse and behind the scenes video of the shoot.  Also take a look at Tim Mantoani’s blog to read some more details on the shoot and check out some other images. Enjoy, CP.

Got to be part of a very cool shoot this month. Not sure if I’ll ever get the opportunity to use a lift to mount a camera 30ft up in time square again!! Much more to come as soon as everything goes public so stay tuned for a cool video piece. Cheers
