The Almost Daily Photo

Get em while they’re available!! Brian Lamb has done an insane job putting together a 2012 tide calendar with my images of Bird’s board collection. We picked 12 of the boards we have shot so far and featured them monthly based on what sort of conditions you would normally associate with that month. The calendars were meticulously printed at local San Diego print house Neyenesch with 4-color dimensional color printing on Finch Fine 80lb cover coated paper.  Each calendar comes bound with a reusable wooden hanger and the images can be cut out and framed as 8”x12” prints.

At the moment they can be purchased at Birds Surf ShedAloha Sunday Supply Co.BirdsBoards.com, or just drop me a line and I can hand one over to you in person.

Help us continue to photograph Birds collection of boards and throw one of these beautiful calendars up on your wall!

Two More - Classics

Shot two more boards over the weekend. Classics. You’ll have to check out the calendar or book to hear the details.

One Year Later RIP Andy Irons

Sort of a repost as Ive already shown these photos but I think its appropriate being that Andy Irons passed away a year ago tomorrow. With good size waves on tap for tomorrow at the Rip Curl Search contest in Ocean Beach San Francisco it’s too bad we don’t still have Andy around to watch. For now have a look this board from the “Birds Boards” collection and mind surf away in the heel dents he left on the deck. RIP Andy Irons

kickstarter:

Tim Mantoani takes 20x24 Polaroid portraits of photographers and their most legendary (or favorite) images. At the bottom of each Polaroid, he asks them to transcribe the story of their chosen photograph. Above, that’s Jim Marshall with Johnny Cash. We would love to hear more about it — guess we’ll have to back it to find out!

Cool video of the night: There are no special effects. This is natural bioluminescent algae.

Shayne Mcintyre’s Futuristic? Creation

Shot a few new boards over the weekend. Came across this futuristic semi finless creation. (The green squares on the bottom are computer chips. And ya thats a handle. All in all looks really fun though!!!)

Kelly Slater’s 1992 Baywatch Era Board

Just a quick pic from the board project. This is Kelly Slater’s board from 1992. A big year for him winning his first world title and appearing on Baywatch. Ya Jimmy Slade!

lamb-fish: dark side of the lens

South swell is pumping today in San Diego. Dawn patrol session this morning got me thinking of the hurricane action happening on the other side of the globe and how that must be stirring up some waves in Europe. I’ll be in Ireland in just a few days, a while this is not going to be a ‘surf trip’…
